Anne Arundel County Public Schools is seeking Teacher – Chemistry (Secondary School).

 

Job Description:

 

  1. Provide for instruction of students by developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials and presenting them using current instructional techniques that meet the needs of all students.
  2. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  3. Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings and activities and monitor and evaluate student performance while developing and implementing plans to improve student performance.
  4. Maintain required records and follow required procedures and practices.
  5. Establish clear goals and objectives related to the school improvement plan.
  6. Plan and prepare lessons, assignments, and instructional materials.
  7. Establish learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development.
  8. Prepare, administer, and correct evaluations and assessments, and record results.
  9. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, board policy, and administrative regulation.
  10. Select and use appropriate instructional strategies including, but not limited to, lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling, and multi-media teaching aids to present subject matter to students.
  11. Evaluate student progress using appropriate assessment techniques; counsel students when academic and adjustment problems arise.
  12. Maintain order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning; take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  13. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, textbooks, materials, and facilities.
  14. Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
  15. Confer with parents and students regarding progress/problems of assigned students; arranges and participates in teacher-parent or teacher-student conferences as necessary.
  16. Attend and actively participate in staff/faculty meetings and provide input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives, and methods; may serve on special committees.
  17. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional assistants, teacher assistants, and volunteers; and
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Teachers may be placed at any school within the district and will work 37.5 hours for 191-200 days per year.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Education or in a related field and hold or be eligible for Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Conditional or Standard Professional or Advanced Professional certification in Chemistry (grades 7-12).
