Temp: Student Stage Crew Technician

This position is designed for high school students who have been recruited to participate in the stage crew program within their current school. Please DO NOT apply for this position unless the Stage Crew Advisor of your current high school has invited you to apply. This position pays the current Maryland State mimimum wage hourly rate.
JOB SUMMARY Supports the Stage Crew Advisor with drama, dance, music, and additional high school group events. Students may receive a stipend for duties assigned beyond the scope of events sponsored by the student's home high school such as events sponsored by the Board of Education, school community, or the feeder system. Students may assist with load in and out, lighting, sound, stage management, and house management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for set-up, installation and operation of requirements on stage and in the theatre space during a work-shift or event such as but not limited to hanging and focusing of lights, laying dance marley, setting up microphones, setting up and running projectors and laptops, moving/arranging chairs.
- Cleans the stage and auditorium spaces (house/lobby) at the beginning of a work-shift or event.
- Restores the stage and auditorium spaces (house/lobby) at the end of a work-shift or event.
- Maintains and organizes auditorium and theatrical equipment.
- Responsible for being present throughout the entire duration of specific events scheduled for technical support.
- Attends production meetings as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
- Other: Current enrollment at the high school of the event, Must be invited by the current Stage Crew Advisor and have training on auditorium equipment. Must have a completed safety form on file with current high school of enrollment. required.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a theatre setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
- Must be able to operate theatrical equipment including, but not limited to, lights, sound, projectors and stage curtains.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to multi-task and operate under stress.
- Must be able to exercise initiative, courtesy and good judgement in dealing with students, parents, administrators, other employees and the general public.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
Licenses and Certifications Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.
