JOB SUMMARY
The role assists the Operations Manager: Electrical in performing managerial and administrative tasks to maintain school buildings across the district. This ensures that necessary projects are completed efficiently, safely, and on time. The position is crucial for operational success, contributing to the strategy and direction of the department in alignment with Maintenance and AACPS policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include conducting visits to schools as needed to diagnose major electrical issues and inspecting projects at various stages of completion. This position is considered essential personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees and assigns duties, provides instruction, and inspects daily work activities of personnel involved in preventive/planned maintenance and corrective/reactive maintenance of electrical building systems and components.
  • Supervises the entry of Work Order data into the CMMS by electrical personnel, ensuring accuracy for proper tracking and reporting of electrical component conditions.
  • Assists in developing project scopes of work and estimates for tasks performed by the Maintenance Department, including projects outlined in the Comprehensive Maintenance Plan.
  • Reviews facility project drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with AACPS design standards, safety standards, and local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
  • Keeps up to date with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in electrical maintenance to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards.
  • Trains electrical personnel in electrical codes and the maintenance of electrical and Life Safety Systems/technology utilized by the School System.
  • Conducts section meetings with electrical personnel to communication Facilities Maintenance and section procedures, as well as safety awareness and training.
  • Inspects ongoing and completed projects and work in progress performed by contractors.
  • Responds to emergency situations at AACPS properties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.

Experience

  • Eight (8) years progressively responsible experience in the electrical field, with at least one (1) year at the Electrician III level required;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.

  • Upon hire, Electrician Master License issued by Maryland Board of Master Electricians required; and
  • Upon hire, Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required.
  • Proof of a good driving record required.
  • Daily access to reliable transportation.

  • Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.
