OPS Program Manager: General Maintenance

JOB SUMMARY The Ops General Maintenance Manager oversees supervisory and administrative tasks with minimal supervision. This role involves managing, assigning, and prioritizing the work of General Maintenance (GM) mechanics, trainees, and helpers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of GM-related building systems. The Manager is responsible for the operational success of the department and contributes to defining its strategy and direction in accordance with Maintenance and AACPS policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include visiting schools to diagnose building system deficiencies and inspecting ongoing projects at various stages of completion. This position is considered essential personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules work and establishes necessary priorities for staff. Assigns, instructs, and inspects the work of personnel engaged in various maintenance activities inclusive of but not limited to preventive/planned maintenance and corrective/reactive maintenance related to GM building systems and components.
- Plans and implements a Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance GM program to preserve equipment in good working order by following operations and maintenance instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, maintaining supplies on hand to perform scheduled PM and promptly scheduling repairs.
- Assists in establishing design standards for the Section and maintains accurate data/information associated with the Systems building components to aid and assist with tracking useful life and condition of each for maintenance planning purposes.
- Assists in the preparation of GM program requirements for the Maintenance budget, by providing accurate estimates and prioritization of projects required under the Comprehensive Maintenance Plan.
- Reviews specifications and drawings for both new capital projects and systemic replacement of systems for consistency with Facilities design standards and code.
- Stays current with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in GM maintenance to ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal regulations and safety standards.
- Ensures staff are trained in building codes, maintenance of GM related systems/technology utilized throughout the System, and proper safety associated with tasks performed.
- Performs inspection of ongoing projects, completed projects and work in progress performed by contractors/vendors.
- Responds promptly to emergency situations at properties maintained by Facilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
Experience
- 10 or more years general maintenance or construction experience required; and
- Four (4) years experience in management or supervision. required;
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
