Senior Analyst: Network
|
JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the architectural design, management, and maintenance of the enterprise network infrastructure. Provides direct supervision and mentoring of network engineering staff, sub-contractors, project management, assignment of tasks, and the resolution of infrastructure issues. Extensive experience working with enterprise networks, third-party telecommunications service providers, high-level managerial skills, and project management skills. Demonstrates effective team building and leadership skills, ability to perform in pressure situations to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the AACPS network infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of routing, switching, wireless, firewall, and intrusion detection and prevention hardware, software, and protocols (specifically Cisco Networks).
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of enterprise network security and best practices.
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the physical network infrastructure (i.e CAT5/6 and fiber optic cable standards, patch panel & jack terminations and general cable plant industry standards) .
- Configures, installs and maintains routing, switching, remote access, and wireless network hardware.
- Configures, secures and maintains firewalls and remote VPN access.
- Oversees and maintains Network Management systems, inventory and documentation.
- Provides direct supervision to assigned personnel.
- Provides project management for the design and installation and/or upgrades of network systems in AACPS Schools and Administrative facilities.
- Manages and maintains professional relationships with vendors and other outside sub-contractors.
- Makes sure outstanding service requests are resolved and prepares all necessary documentation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required;
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Experience
- Five (5) years professional work experience in network design, installation and administration of Cisco products and services required; and
- Three (3) years leadership experience required; or
- Three (3) years network design experience preferred; or
- Three (3) years project management experience preferred.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
- Experience in networking protocols and other IT industry standards including, but not limited to: Ethernet, EIGRP, BGP, DMVPN, multicast, VOIP, NAT, Syslog, and SMNP.
- Preferred knowledge of Cisco networking equipment and software including, but not limited to: Cisco ISE, Prime Infrastructure, Next-Generation Firepower and ASA firewalls, FMC, CDO, DNA Center, Secure Network Analytics, Wireless WLC, and autonomous/lightweight access Points.
- General knowledge of physical infrastructure and topologies including wired, wireless, and fiber optics.
- Knowledge of and experience in Network Security and best practices.
- Ability to terminate Cat5/6 cable onto data jacks and patch panels.
- Ability to troubleshoot end-user, network infrastructure and cabling issues.
- Experience in management of supervised personnel and their daily workload.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with administrative, instructional and technical personnel of all levels of expertise.
- Proficient in all levels of documentation and record keeping.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
Licenses and Certifications Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.
- Successful completion of Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification issued by Cisco required; and
- Within 1 year, obtain Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification issued by Cisco preferred.
- Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
- Daily access to reliable transportation.
