· Must be eligible to work in the United States.
· Must be 18 years or older.
· Must attend AACPS Interpreter Training Part 1: Basic Interpreter Skills and Ethics Part 2 (for work in special education) Interpreting in Special Education Settings.
· Outstanding customer service.
· Must be able to travel to different schools around the county.
· Excellent listening, verbal, and written language skills for both English and another language
· Ability to accurately interpret conversation and presentation.
· Knowledge of advanced grammar and usage in both languages.
· Knowledge of school system terminology.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse communities and develop outreach strategies to encourage parental involvement in student learning. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and engage diverse parents/guardians with varied communication styles, levels of skill and experience to support their child’s education experience.
· Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to response to the needs of diverse learners.
· Ability to employ business technology tools (e.g. E-mail, AACPS Intranet, electronic benefits enrolment tool, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
