JOB SUMMARY

Performs professional level work in the administration of the AACPS Classification and Compensation program. Serves as team member in assisting AACPS leadership and employees with related issues. Serves as the administrator of related systems. Performs all related work to ensure alignment and adherence to the AACPS Compensation philosophy, strategies, policies, programs, and initiatives.

  • Outside of normal business hours
  • Overtime as needed


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as first line of contact in receiving and reviewing department requests. Provides assistance or referral to other team members as appropriate.
  • Acts as administrator for all Classification and Compensation systems (job description and market pricing), interfacing, data maintenance, and reporting.
  • Performs job analysis and job-level evaluations using market and internal data as assigned. Analyzes results and determines appropriate recommendations for approval and implementation.
  • Facilitates Job Description Scheduled Review Process (JDSRP).
  • Partners with HR Recruitment to assist in performing quantitative analysis for pay placement determinations and ensuring job descriptions are accurate and up to date for posting
  • Manages the Compensation survey process. Utilizes organizational knowledge to evaluate survey matches. Analyzes results to assist in making pay scale and market pricing decisions.
  • Utilizes Classification and Compensation related organizations and maintains relationships with LEA's as resources.
  • Supports and participates in special projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field from a regionally accredited college or university required;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Experience

  • Three (3) years Human Resources experience required; and
  • Two (2) years Compensation administration and/or analysis experience required; and
  • One (1) year experience in a union environment preferred; and
  • One (1) year experience in government or K-12 education preferred;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

  • Knowledge of the current trends, research, policies and practices of classification and compensation programs, including organizational structures, job description development and pay structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer classification and compensation functions in an organization, including job description development and analysis, market analysis, salary scale development, and internal pay equity review.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to identify, evaluate, interpret, and organize data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Compensation-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Video/Web Conferencing). Expert proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups, regression analysis).

Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.

  • Hold or be eligible for Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) issued by WorldatWork Total Rewards Association preferred; or
  • Hold or be eligible for Professional in Human Resources (PHR) issued by HR Certification Institute (HRCI) preferred; or
  • Hold or be eligible for SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) issued by Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
  • Daily access to reliable transportation.

  • Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.
