JOB SUMMARY
Supports the Special Education Compliance Office with the management of dispute resolution processes and related tasks. Maintains accurate databases and runs reports for Special Education Department purposes and state reporting. Manages the Fluency database for assignment of interpreters in matters related to the special education process and processes payroll for the interpreters. Supports the appointment of surrogate parents for special education and maintains a database for reporting purposes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the Special Education Compliance team with required paperwork, phone call, databases, and other resources to assist with dispute resolution processes.
  • Serves as a contact point for outside agencies and public schools for requests for the appointment and/or termination of surrogate parents and maintains related databases.
  • Manages the Fluency database for assignment of interpreters for special education purposes and processes related payroll.
  • Responsible for implementing, documenting, and communicating procedures to ensure compliance with reporting requirements for students with disabilities.
  • Assists with preparation and review of student data required by the MSDE (child count; attendance; exit verification; parent surveys; audits).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education

  • Associate's Degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university preferred; or
  • Number of College Credit Hours (if applicable) 60 college credit hours preferred.
  • Some College Level Courses Course work in data input and management required;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Experience

  • Three (3) years experience in maintaining data bases and analyzing data, in support of specialized programs in an educational organization, preferably in the special education area required;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

  • Understanding of special education processes and regulations
  • The ability to exercise patience, tact, courtesy and good judgment in dealing with parents, teachers, school representatives, and other individuals.
  • The ability to establish effective oral and written communications with parents, teachers, school representatives, and other individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assignments independently and to utilize personal computers and technology for the purpose of inputting data, managing databases, and producing reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business software (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Outlook and/or PowerPoint preferred).
