JOB SUMMARY
Serves as the community face of the school's Signature Program, providing school-based and feeder system leadership, and liaison support to school administration, faculty, parent groups, business and community groups, and students regarding Signature Programs, pathways and post-secondary education. Provides leadership in developing, implementing and coordinating Anne Arundel County's Signature Programs in the assigned school. Works directly with the school principal, school-based leadership team, and the Signature Office Team to maintain and improve the school's Signature Program. This is a non-teaching position and requires flexible scheduling to accommodate participation in community and partnership events outside of regular school hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, organizes and maintains an effective school-based team to sustain a successful Signature Program including, but not limited to facilitating off-campus, community-based experiences for students.
  • Acts as liaison with community stakeholders in secondary and post-secondary education, business and industry, media, healthcare, government and community organization sectors to support ICST to build and maintain healthy community-based mock interview, job shadow and internship opportunities for students.
  • Develops and initiates seminars, meetings, and events for students, parents, and business and community leaders regarding school’s Signature program, pathway and post-secondary opportunities.
  • Attends monthly planning meetings and professional development opportunities with all Signature Program Facilitators and participates on SPF team with other SPFs and central office staff for countywide Signature program implementation.
  • Works with ICST and others to identify potential grants for external support of school’s Signature Programs. Writes grant applications for identified grants and develops and manages budgets as related to grant or program funds.
  • Plans and implements Signature programs and pathways in conjunction with the school’s Integrated Community Stakeholder Team (ICST), Signature Lead Teacher and school’s principal.
  • Collects and evaluates data, and completes reports for school-based and county-wide use through surveys, interviews, and professional development information.
  • Plans with school-based administrators to implement Signature initiatives within the school and feeder system and provides leadership in planning and developing Signature-related, interdisciplinary instructional strategies with faculty.
  • Serves as a non-chair member of the School Improvement Team.
  • Collaborates with the school counseling department to develop student interest inventories and activities in support of student pathway selection. Point of contact for local, state, and national network initiatives – ASP Office, MSDE Institutes, etc.; serves as a non-teaching resource to Teacher Advisory Program (TAP). Works with school staff to facilitate service learning structure and opportunities related to Signature programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.

Experience

  • Three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience or as a school counselor and required;
  • One (1) year experience working with public school personnel and members of the business community preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

  • Ability to manage projects and associated budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead groups and teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills as required for the position to include the ability to use technology to design and deliver training modules and incorporate instructional technology tools.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams in the design, implementation, nurturing, and evaluation of model programs.
  • Ability to relate effectively with professional colleagues, staff, students, and parents.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).

Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.

  • Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required; and
  • Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.
  • Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
  • Daily access to reliable transportation.

  • Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.
