Position Summary        

Is this position exempt from overtime pay?

Yes

Plans and develops the engagement strategies to grow and expand partnerships with individuals, businesses, and community organizations. Provides high-level stewardship to those in the community who provide time, resources, and support to AACPS and cultivates relationships with prospective partners. Organizes and implements key elements of campaigns and events. Increases awareness of the school system priorities and ways that partners can provide support through collaboration, advocacy, and opportunities for students, educators, and members of our school communities.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?

No

1.     Researches, compiles, and maintains the latest data on school system priorities, initiatives, and programs.

2.     Cultivates partnerships using a donor management system to strategically communicate with individuals and organizations. Maintains accurate data in the donor management system.

3.     Coordinates events to ensure that the experience for participants is positive, welcoming, and encourages more engagement from existing and potential partners.

4.     Collaborates with school system leaders to produce content for social media, websites, local press, and educational venues.

5.     Maintains and updates multiple websites for the department.

6.     Manages the Employee Recognition Programs, AACPS Teacher of the Year selection process, assembles online application packets, and edits the winner’s essays.

7.     Provides support for fundraising and goodwill campaigns to increase funding and awareness for AACPS students, schools, and programs.

8.     Assists with the internal and external marketing efforts.

9.     Assists with writing annual published report highlighting special awards and grants, student achievement data, challenges/successes, and community engagement.

10.  Collects and analyzes data and prepares reports.

11.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

·  Bachelor’s degree in Philanthropy, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, English or related field from an accredited college or university.

 

Experience

·  Two (2) years of successful experience related to philanthropy, nonprofit management, marketing, communications, development, grant writing, or other related areas.

·  Project manage, and office/team management experience preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·  Demonstrated ability to write and edit professional publications.

·  Demonstrated advanced knowledge of relationship management systems.

·  Demonstrated proficiency with core social media platforms in a workplace setting.

·  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, seek support from team members, and take initiative with limited supervision.

·  Ability to effectively present program initiatives and information to a variety of audiences (i.e., Board of Education, directors, executive staff, school faculties, higher education, business & industry, parent/community groups, and the Press).

·  Knowledge of K-12 school organization and administration, preferred.

·  Knowledge of local employers, institutions of higher education, governmental agencies, and nonprofits, preferred.

·  Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.

·  Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS for employment in Grade B by new hire or transfer:

In addition to all the requirements of Grade B listed above

·  Two (2) years of successful experience in philanthropy, nonprofits, marketing, communications, development, grant writing, or other related areas and/or achievement of a Master’s degree in a related field.

·  Demonstrated experience successfully managing major projects.

·  Demonstrated experience identifying grant funding sources and writing successful grants and/or experience with budget preparation and management.

·  Demonstrated experience preparing successful philanthropic or marketing initiatives.

 

Career Ladder Requirements

 

Eligibility for consideration for advancement from Grade A to Grade B requires:

·  Two (2) years continuous successful experience in the position at the grade A level.

·  Mastery of all duties and responsibilities of the position.

·  Evidence of completion of additional training that may be recommended by supervisor and/or participation in approved professional development programs or courses, approved in advance by the supervisor.

·  Achievement of identified goals as related to the needs of the unit and school system and as established by the supervisor.

·  Consistent maintenance of an effective and orderly work environment.

·  Consistent compliance with general office procedures such as standards contained in the AACPS Employee Handbook; demonstration of discretion and excellent customer service; regular and punctual attendance; and building dress code, including wearing AACPS ID badge.

·  Above Satisfactory overall job performance for two most recent consecutive years.

·  Recommendation of the supervisor.
