Anne Arundel County Public Schools is seeking Teacher – Chemistry (Secondary School).
Job Description:
- Provide for instruction of students by developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials and presenting them using current instructional techniques that meet the needs of all students.
- Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings and activities and monitor and evaluate student performance while developing and implementing plans to improve student performance.
- Maintain required records and follow required procedures and practices.
- Establish clear goals and objectives related to the school improvement plan.
- Plan and prepare lessons, assignments, and instructional materials.
- Establish learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development.
- Prepare, administer, and correct evaluations and assessments, and record results.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, board policy, and administrative regulation.
- Select and use appropriate instructional strategies including, but not limited to, lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling, and multi-media teaching aids to present subject matter to students.
- Evaluate student progress using appropriate assessment techniques; counsel students when academic and adjustment problems arise.
- Maintain order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning; take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, textbooks, materials, and facilities.
- Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
- Confer with parents and students regarding progress/problems of assigned students; arranges and participates in teacher-parent or teacher-student conferences as necessary.
- Attend and actively participate in staff/faculty meetings and provide input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives, and methods; may serve on special committees.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional assistants, teacher assistants, and volunteers; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Teachers may be placed at any school within the district and will work 37.5 hours for 191-200 days per year.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Education or in a related field and hold or be eligible for Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Conditional or Standard Professional or Advanced Professional certification in Chemistry (grades 7-12).
